Candidates for Masters degrees have to undertake one year course work followed by research leading to dissertation write up. For PhD candidates, the candidate has to submit a research proposal within six months before embarking on research and thesis write up. All candidates are assigned supervisors who ensure that the candidates submit progress reports to Senate Postgraduate Studies Committee (SPGSC) every six months by candidates filling Progress Report form ( PGS 008 ).


The duration of registration for masters programme is 2 years for full time students and 3 years for part time students. For PhD students, it is 4 years for full time students and 6 years for part time students. Candidates exceeding their registration periods have to apply for extensions to Senate by filling the Request for Extension of Registration form ( PGS 009 )
